The cooperation with credit agencies for fraud prevention, determining payment methods, and credit checks is country-specific to account for the unique characteristics and requirements of each country.

The cooperation with external debt collection service providers is country-specific to account for the unique characteristics and requirements of each country.

As part of advertising campaigns, I transmit data to social media network operators within the limits of data protection laws. You can find more detailed information in the section “How does Atelier Carousel use my data for advertising purposes?”

If required by an authority or a court decision, or for the purpose of legal or criminal proceedings, I transmit your data to law enforcement authorities or other third parties.

I use artificial intelligence service providers to offer you tailored product recommendations and to personalize my content. If they process your data outside the European Union, this may mean that your data is transferred to a country with a lower level of data protection than that of the European Union. In such cases, Atelier Carousel will try to ensure that the relevant service providers guarantee an equivalent level of data protection but cannot full control their actions.

Your personal data remain stored as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this privacy policy, particularly for fulfilling our contractual and legal obligations. When data is blocked, access rights are restricted, and technical and organizational measures ensure that only a limited number of people can access the data. These people can only use the blocked data for legally defined purposes (e.g., submitting them to tax authorities during an audit). Examples of data blocking:

  • Your order and payment data, as well as other related data, are generally subject to legal retention obligations. The law may require me to retain these records for ten years for tax and auditing purposes. The relevant data can only be permanently deleted after this period has expired.

  • Even if no legal retention obligation applies, I may legally postpone deletion and instead block the data, particularly if needed to fulfill ongoing contracts, resolve disputes, or defend legal claims (e.g., in case of complaints). The statutory limitation periods determine the duration of this blocking. Once these periods expire, the data will be permanently deleted.

  • Your user account may be deleted if you request its deletion or in case of prolonged inactivity (after five years without purchases and if no activity is detected for 13 months).

Legal exemptions to data deletion may apply if the data have been anonymized or pseudonymized and their deletion would make processing for scientific or statistical research impossible or significantly impair it.

I transmit your personal data in encrypted form where possible. This applies to your order and customer login. For this purpose, I use the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption system.

Additionally, I secure my websites and other systems using technical and organizational measures to protect your data from loss, destruction, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure by unauthorized persons.

Atelier Carousel offers you various services that you can use in different ways. Depending on whether you contact me online, by telephone, in person or in any other way and depending on the services you use, various data from different sources are communicated. Much of the data I process is data that you provide to me when you use my services or when you contact me, for example when you register and provide your name, email address or address.

Profile data is the personal and demographic information about you (master data) and your personal interests that you provide to me when you register for a customer account. Your profile data includes, for example: Your first and last name, Your contact details, Your preferences, e.g., regarding readings, product types, or styles, Demographic information, such as your gender, age, and place of residence, Mandatory data is generally your name, email address, and the password you choose. Your email address and password will be your login data.

To use services with limited access, paid services, or personalized services, other mandatory data, such as your date of birth or title, may be required, or other preference. Profile data may also include other information about you and your interests. These details can be entered when registering for the service or can be completed later. This is the case, for example, if you voluntarily add information to your profile later or if you wish to use your customer account to register for a service that requires additional mandatory information.

If you are logged in to your customer account, you can view your profile data and edit it directly in most cases, e.g., to update your address if you move.

When you contact me, I collect your contact information. Depending on your method of contact (e.g., by phone or email), your contact information may include your name, postal address, telephone numbers, email address, social media profile details (e.g., I receive your Facebook ID if you contact me via Facebook), username, and similar contact information.

If you place an order with Atelier Carousel or make a purchase in a third party store, for example, Etsy or Redbubble, I collect your purchase data. Depending on the type of sale and processing status, purchase data may include the following information:

  • Order reference

  • Details of the purchased items or services (name, type, size, price, etc.)

  • Payment method

  • Billing address and delivery address

  • Purchase notifications and information (e.g., cancellations, complaints, and customer service notifications)

  • Delivery and payment status, e.g., "Completed" or "Sent" Return status, e.g., "closed"

  • Information on service providers involved in contract execution (for distance sales, sender tracking numbers)

If there is a customer account, you can view your main purchasing data at any time in "My Orders," "My Returns," and "My Directory."

I offer you the payment methods commonly used in online commerce – including prepayment, credit card, PayPal. To process payments, I collect the payment data you provide. I receive additional payment data from external payment service providers and credit reference agencies with whom I work for payment processing and credit checks. I only share the data necessary for payment processing with my payment service providers.

Payment data includes, for example:

  • Preferred payment method

  • Billing addresses

  • IBAN and BIC or account number and bank code

  • Credit card details

  • Creditworthiness data

  • Payment data also includes other information directly related to the payment process and creditworthiness checks. This includes, for example, information used by external payment service providers for identification purposes, such as your PayPal ID (if you pay with PayPal).

Atelier Carousel works with partners who handle payments, debt management and credit checks in connection with all purchases by private individuals in the Atelier Carousel shops and with all other paid services.

Creditworthiness data includes my own records of your current payment behavior with respect to all Atelier Carousel stores, as well as score values reported about you by external credit bureaus. Creditworthiness data provides information about a person's estimated financial capacity and willingness to meet their obligations. This allows companies to protect themselves against payment defaults due to customers being unable to meet their payment obligations or not meeting them on time. Taking creditworthiness data into account when choosing a payment method also serves to prevent me from offering my customers payment methods that cannot be offered to them and to prevent my customers from accepting commitments they are unable to meet. Creditworthiness data is normally reported by credit bureaus. From the various information, these bureaus calculate a score value that takes into account, among other things, existing payment obligations and, where applicable, previous payment defaults. Scores are statistically supported estimates of a person's future risk of payment default, represented as a numerical value, such as a percentage. I have limited influence over the processing of data by external credit reporting agencies (e.g., whether I provide them with information about the non-fulfillment of payment obligations).

When you interact with my services, the data generated provides me with insights into the content, themes, products, types of products, brands, or styles that interest you. For example, I can infer your interests from your purchase data, the content of your wishlist, and your age (if I have this information), as well as through comparisons with users who have similar characteristics. This allows me to prioritize displaying products that are most likely to interest you during your next search.

In addition to the interests you explicitly indicate, I can also deduce your interests from other collected data. For instance, if you repeatedly visit a specific page on the Atelier Carousel store, I may analyze your access data to infer your interests.

To enhance this understanding, I receive demographic data and statistics from my advertising partners, such as age, gender, and region, along with device and access data, as well as user interests. In doing so, I ensure that my advertising partners provide Atelier Carousel only with summarized, encrypted, or anonymized data, preventing me from associating it with a specific individual or user. This information helps me better understand my users, particularly for customer structure analyses and user segmentation.

For more details on how my data is processed for advertising purposes, please refer to the section "How does Atelier Caorusel use my data for advertising purposes?"

When you contact us or other users regarding products and other topics via phone, mail, social media, contact forms, or any other means, I record the content of your messages.

If necessary, I may forward your messages to the appropriate department, such as partner companies or the manufacturer. If your message is forwarded to another company (e.g., if you provide feedback for a product manufacturer), you can, of course, let us know whether Atelier Carousel is allowed to share your data. In such cases, I will either not forward your inquiry to the relevant department or will only do so without your personal information if your question can still be processed in that manner.

If you report a product or other content using the designated reporting function, the content of your report will be recorded and used to review the product or content. After the review, you will be informed of the decision.

Telephone conversations are recorded only with your consent and within the limits of your consent (e.g., for quality assurance or training purposes). Naturally, you are not required to consent to call recordings. You can revoke your consent at any time, for example, by asking the representative to stop the recording. Further information can be found in the section "What are my data protection rights?"

To communicate with customers and users, Atelier Carousel also uses social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In addition to my own communication channels, I use these platforms to provide additional contact and information options. However, please note that I have no control over the terms of use of social media platforms and the services they offer, and I have only limited influence over how they process data.

Therefore, I ask you to carefully consider what personal data you share with me on social media. I have no control over the actions of social media operators, other users, or third parties who may collaborate with social media operators or use their services.

Atelier Carousel maintains profile pages (known as "fan pages") on various social media networks. Atelier Carousel services may include social networking features, such as messaging services, login tools, or social plugins like "Log in with your Facebook account."

If you interact with us via my social media profiles or use social networking features integrated into my services while being a member of the relevant social network, I may receive data from the social media provider that allows us to identify you. Typically, I may have access to the following data:

  • Information from your public profile stored by the social network (e.g., name, profile picture, etc.)

  • Details about the device you use to log in

  • The account ID associated with your profile on the respective social network (e.g., Facebook ID)

For more details on how social media data is processed, please refer to the sections "Information on Websites and Apps" and "Information on Social Media Fan Pages."

For specific purposes, I may collect data related to the current location of your device when you use my services. Two different technologies are used for this purpose.

When you enable location services on your device for a Atelier Carousel app, website, or other online service, Atelier Carousel processes the location data provided by your device to offer services based on your geographic position. For example you may receive product recommendations based on your current location.

If you allow a Atelier Caorusel app to access your device's location services, your geographic position may be transmitted to us even when you are not actively using the app). This helps improve your user experience, such as by loading location-relevant content more quickly when you use the app in that area or sending push notifications based on your location. However, I do not create movement profiles from this data. If you wish, you can receive further information about services based on your geographic location.

Additionally, I may collect geolocation data derived from your device’s IP address.

Every device connected to the internet is assigned a unique multi-digit number (e.g., 193.99.144.85). This is known as an IP address. The first three digits of an IP address are typically linked to a specific region or internet provider. As a result, an IP address can provide an approximate location of the internet connection.

Many online stores use this method (known as geolocation) as part of fraud detection processes to identify suspicious orders. For example, it might be considered suspicious if an order is placed from an IP address in a country where you have never previously placed an order using your customer account.

Some of my service-specific applications may allow you to share photos and other personal content with us or other users. Additionally, they enable you to communicate with us or other users and personalize services in various ways, such as:

a) Uploading a profile picture

b) Using a photo search feature

c) Communicating with a representative

d) Creating and/or assembling orders or possibly sharing them with othe users

When you review products, I collect the information you share and may publish it within my services.

If you participate in a Atelier Carousel-organized event (e.g., a contest) or a survey (e.g., customer satisfaction surveys as part of market research), I may ask for personal information.

For example, in a contest, I typically request your name and email address so I can notify you if you win and ensure that each participant enters only once.

In some cases, I may also ask for additional details that I or my partners need to conduct the campaign, contest, or survey effectively.

When using online and mobile services, technical data is inevitably generated and processed to make functions and content available on your device. I refer to this as “device and access data.” These data are generated whenever online or mobile services are used, regardless of the provider.

Device and access data are collected, for example, when using:

  • Websites

  • Apps

  • Social media fan pages

  • Email newsletters (when interactions are recorded)

  • Geolocation services

Atelier Carousel collects device and access data for its own online and mobile services (such as the Atelier Carousel store). Additionally, Atelier Carousel may receive device and access data from other companies’ online and mobile services, provided that these companies are Atelier Carousel’s partners in social networking or advertising or belong to the same online advertising networks (e.g., the "Google Network"). More information can be found in the sections "How does Atelier Carousel use my data for advertising?" and "Information on social media fan pages."

    • Recently visited a specific website.

    • Searched for certain content.

This ensures that advertising remains highly relevant and personalized while protecting user privacy.

Atelier Carousel optimizes on-site and in-app experiences by displaying personalized content and product recommendations based on your browsing behavior.

How It Works:

  • On-Site Optimization:

    • When you search for products or browse Atelier Carousel’s site/app, you receive relevant suggestions.

    • Personalized feed recommendations and product listings are displayed.

  • Based on Cookies & Similar Identification Technologies:

    • Pseudonymous device & access data is collected.

    • Your identity is NOT linked to this data—it is used only for anonymous analysis.

    • Example: If you only browse sportswear, Atelier Carousel may prioritize sportswear ads & recommendations.

Important Privacy Measures:

  • Your personal data is NEVER combined with browsing data.

  • Ads are personalized only at an anonymous level.

If you do not want personalized content or targeted ads, you can turn off on-site optimization: write an email to ateliercarousel@gmail.com. For Other Services: Disable web analytics or app tracking.

Atelier Carousel advertises on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. To do this, Atelier Carousel may transmit encrypted user data to the social network, which then matches this data with its users to display targeted ads. Data that is shared:

  • Device & access data (e.g., advertising IDs, cookies)

  • Email addresses (hashed/encrypted for security)

  • Demographic data (e.g., age, region, interests)

How It Works:

  1. Atelier Carousel encrypts user data and sends it to the social network.

  2. The social network decrypts the data (if allowed by user settings).

  3. If you are a member of that social network, the platform matches your profile and displays Atelier Carousel’s targeted ads.

  4. All ads comply with the social network’s terms of use.

If you don’t want Atelier Carousel to use your data for personalized ads on social media, you can opt out: simply write an email to ateliercarousel@gmail.com

  • Revoke Consent for Social Media Data Sharing

  • If you have previously consented to sharing your data with social networks, you can withdraw consent anytime.

  • Opt-Out Directly on Social Media Platforms

You may also disable personalized ads directly on the social network you use.

By making these changes, you can limit or completely disable personalized ads from Atelier Carousel on social media platforms.

Atelier Carousel pay partner with online advertising networks that use cookies and tracking technologies to show targeted ads on Atelier Carousel store and app or Websites & apps of other companies. This technique, known as retargeting, allows advertisers to:

  • Analyze user behavior pseudonymously (without identifying you personally).

  • Determine your likelihood of belonging to a specific target group.

  • Show you relevant ads based on your browsing habits.

  • Measure ad effectiveness and reach.

  • Verify billing for advertising partners.

Retargeting:

  • You visit Atelier Carousel or another website

  • Ad networks track pseudonymous user data (e.g., device info, browsing history)

  • Ad networks predict your interests & show targeted ads

  • You see Atelier Carousel ads on other websites/apps

You can opt out of retargeting ads anytime by disabling data processing: write an email to ateliercarousel@gmail.com

Through Online Ad Networks: Disable retargeting ads via the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA) opt-out page:

  • EDAA Opt-Out Page

  • Even after opting out, some data will still be collected for essential services (e.g., site functionality).

  • Ads will still appear, but they won’t be personalized.
